Work with Me

Financial education works best when it meets people where they are. That means the right framework, the right facilitator, and the right conversation. Here is how we can work together.

Curriculum

These are not worksheets you hand someone and walk away from. They are structured, research-grounded learning experiences built for real people navigating real financial lives. I co-wrote both of the following curricula. For All My Money, I am also able to train facilitators and organizations on how to use it well.

All My Money: Change for the Better

  PUBLISHED BY

University of Illinois Extension

DESIGNED FOR

Staff and volunteers at agencies and organizations serving limited-resource audiences

WHAT IT COVERS

An eight-lesson series addressing the financial management skills that matter most to people who have been underserved by traditional financial education. Topics move through identity and money mindset, tracking spending, saving, spending plans, financial services, credit, and the real consequences of debt.

WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT

• Research-based: content was shaped by a needs assessment of agencies serving limited-resource audiences and aligned to Financial Literacy and Education Commission core competencies

• Facilitator-first design: lessons are built so that you do not have to be a financial expert to teach them. The best outcomes often come from the conversation between participants, not from a lecture

• Flexible by design: each lesson runs in 30- or 60-minute versions and most can stand alone or be taught as a full series

• Hands-on and human: activities use games, case examples, and real-life application rather than passive instruction

• Ready to use: comes on a flash drive with all materials plus a Resource Box of reusable activity tools

MY ROLE

Co-author and trainer. I worked with organizations to implement the curriculum effectively and train facilitators on how to lead it.

Foundation for Financial Planning

DESIGNED FOR

Students in CFP® Board registered financial planning programs and new professionals beginning their pro bono practice working with FPA pro bono chapters

WHAT IT COVERS

A curriculum built to close the gap between financial planning education and real-world pro bono service. Many planners who want to give back feel underprepared for the emotional, logistical, and ethical dimensions of serving clients who are in financial crisis or who have had no prior access to professional planning. This curriculum builds the confidence and competence to change that.

WHAT IT ADDRESSES

• The practical how-to of pro bono financial planning in community and nonprofit settings

• The relational and emotional dimensions of working with clients in financial distress

• The professional identity questions that come with this work: who it is for, what it asks of you, and why it matters

MY ROLE

Co-author. I helped build this curriculum and am available to train on it for CFP Board Registered Programs and FPA Pro Bono Chapters by request.

Speaking and Other Engagements

I speak on financial education, the emotional dimensions of money, and what it means to do this work in communities that have historically been excluded from the financial planning conversation.

If you are building a conference program, a professional development series, or a community event and want a speaker who brings both academic rigor and lived reality to the room, let’s talk.

Additional engagements are available by inquiry, including training, consulting, podcast guest appearances, and collaborative projects.
